advent of form ratings, Lee was unofficially the number one form
champion in the U.S."
International
Shinkendo Federation (Kokusai Shinkendo Renmei), founded by
Obata Toshishiro, director and chief instructor, is an organization
dedicated to teaching authentic Japanese swordsmanship. The Shinkendo
system emphasizes very traditional and effective swordsmanship,
which with serious training, can provide practical ability as well
as an insight into classical martial arts. Shinkendo is steeped
in the traditions of the samurai, in such ways as Heiho (strategy),
Reiho (proper etiquette) and philosophy.
Shotokan
Karate of America is a nonprofit organization teaching traditional
karate-do in the United States since 1955. With Tsutomu Ohshima
as Chief Instructor, SKA has hundreds of dojos in the U.S. and many
around the world- including Valley
Shotokan Dojo located in the San Fernando Valley of Southern
California.
