Both Julia Dye and Charles Currier are settled into beautiful Port Douglas, Australia and preparing to go into the bush to train the actors and core background on HBO's 'The Pacific,' the companion piece to 'Band of Brothers' following the United States Marine Corps as they fight their way through the Pacific Theatre of Operations in World War II. Keep checking back for updates on this epic adventure! Jul. 20, 2007 Channel 4 NBC does a Your LA TV segment on LAFA! It aired today at 3pm, but if you missed it, you can see it on YourLATV.com.

Trampas is in Hawaii for the month of July doing stunts on the "Untitled Genre Project", aka Indiana Jones 4 Jul. 15, 2007 Charles and Julia are headed to Australia. Charles and Julia are headed to Australia for the better part of a year, where they will be working on the HBO miniseries "PACIFIC", from the producers of 2001's Band of Brothers. This is a massive project with lots of historic details, so stay tuned for the updates! Jul. 15, 2007 Viva Las Vegas - Zombies! It’s been a long wait but our Zombie flick will finally hit theatres on September 21st. It was one year ago that Charles Currier, Tim Brown, Trampas Thompson, and Greg Dolph spent the better part of 3 months in the desert of Northern Baja Mexico. Wearing black contact lenses, silver jump suits, and 2 and 1/2 hours worth of prosthetic make-up we took to the hot sand. With temperatures nearing 130 degrees it was an adventure, which will not soon be forgotten. Greg Dolph recalls his experience, “Very fraternal! The stunt team was comprised of a small group of Americans, Canadians, and Mexican Stunt men and women - about 15 of us in total. We were working within an extreme environment and everyone become very close and supportive to one another. That close family feeling is what I will most.”
Los Angeles Fight Academy’s Greg Dolph, Tim Brown, and Trampas Thompson were part of the movie’s Stunt team, and Charles Currier coordinated many of the fights including the elaborate Kukri knife fights featuring the film’s star, Milla Jojovitch. Jul. 02, 2007 Hassloch, Germany Greg Dolph has just returned from Holiday Park Germany having successfully opened the theme park’s 25th Anniversary water ski show, Fluch Der Piraten (The Pirate’s Curse). Greg has written and directed the last 7 shows for the park but says this one is his favorite, “I love the show for several reasons. First, it’s about Pirates and that completely taps into my childish heart and imagination. Next, it’s an anniversary show celebrating 25 years of water ski history at this park and in Europe. And finally, I got to work with so many exceptionally talented friends of mine. It was just a lot of fun.”
The 30 minute plot driven show features a talented international cast of 14, flame effects, pyrotechnics, a lot of extreme skiing, and the “Kenapult”, a special effect designed and created by stunt man/coordinator, Ken Clark in Hollywood, CA. The “Kenapult” is used during the show’s climactic moment to simulate a dramatic dynamite blast from a well, which sends a pirate hurling 30 feet through the air into the lake. The show also includes Europe’s first water skiing dog, Charlie.
Check out the photos in the recently added Live Stunts section of the Photo Gallery. May. 01, 2007 Universal Studios Hollywood Still waiting and hoping…for a full Stunt show. The Zorro and Elena street-fight at Universal Studios Hollywood just turned another page having completed the rehearsal period for 2007. The show, which features a cast of 2, sword fighting, and plenty of photo opts has been performed on Western Street just outside the Old Western Stunt show arena for about a year and a half now. The show’s fight coordinator, Greg Dolph of the Los Angeles Fight Academy, is hoping for something bigger down the road. “When the show began over a year ago we were all hoping it would eventually find a new home inside the old West arena as a full blown Stunt show. I still think this could happen. I really believe it’s a natural fit for that space and I think the characters are timeless enough to propel a stunt show for many years.”
The show just added more numbers to their roster as a new crop of Elenas and Zorros take their swashbuckling to the street. Show performs daily at Universal Studios Hollywood until Labor Day and then on weekends through the Fall and Winter. Feb. 01, 2007 Staff Update! Last year's LAFA staff expansion included Tim Brown, Trampas Thompson, and Robert Hamilton; the trend continues in 2007 with the addition of Mike Mahaffey and Lacy Altwine. Trampas and Tim are continuing their momentum in the Film Industry, and Robert and Lacy are busy preparing for the SAFD's Certified Teacher workshop this summer, in addition, Mike will be traveling with them to preside over their training and continue his labors for the Society. Charles and Julia have recently returned from Morocco, where they were busy working on Oliver Stone's upcoming Alexander the Great! Their efforts to avoid getting run over by battle chariots and stepped on by elephants were successful, and they managed to train upwards of 1200 background performers in the various and unfamiliar weapons of the period!
Whoops! You blinked! They are both out on the road again!
Julia is off to Thailand to shoot one more heavy-duty battle sequence, and Charles has departed for the Great Lakes Naval Training Facility, where he will be attending the Navy's Corpsman/Medics school; if he survives, he should be back in town in April. The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) is a 2 year professional actor training program which has been located in NYC for many years. They are now opening a west coast campus in downtown Hollywood - Yucca and Vine - right across from the Capital Records building!
It is a conservatory program with a strong stage combat program.
After a series of interviews, Payson was appointed as one of two core instructors. The other core instructor is relocating here from NYC where he was teaching at their NYC school for years...... he is one of my old students from Temple University! It's a small world....
Classes start Sept. 29th Spt. 08, 2003 Secondhand Lions opens September 19th!
| Greg and Payson rehearse the climactic sword fight between Hub and the evil Sheik on the set of Secondhand Lions. | "... 'Secondhand Lions' starring Michael Caine, Robert Duvall and Haley Joel Osment is a beautiful story about Walter, a 14 year old boy "dumped off" by his mother (Kyra Sedgwick) in the middle of nowhere with two crazy old men and the promise that she'll come back for him. Through the gentle art of storytelling, the young boy learns a great deal about his uncles and the complexities of life.” Payson, Charles and Greg can be found getting beaten up by the young Robert Duval (Christian Kane) in the "Flashback" scenes. We played palace gaurds, slave traders, torture chamber... guys.. German ,French or Turkish soldiers. Try and count how many, and in how many ways, each of us dies!
The film will be released in theatres nationwide on September 19th.May. 10, 2003 LAFA is interviewed by the Daily Bruin! Read what our faculty had to say about staged combat in an interview for the Daily Bruin Online.
